Hello and Welcome to FafiLoom, where traditional art forms meet a modern aesthetic. 

 

My name is Efrat Berkovich, the artist and owner behind FafiLoom.

A design graduate and Tel Aviv resident, I first became acquainted with weaving on a life-altering trip to India. I fell in love with the traditional textiles - the colors, the richness of detail, the exquisite quality of the fabric - and subsequently changed the focus of my creativity.

 

I create on my loom, where I mix materials from different worlds. I aim to establish harmony between often disparate colors and textures, crafting a winning combination out of materials that may have seemed alien to each other when I first began. There is no such thing as a color that doesn’t work well with another, in nature you get all the combinations you could possibly dream up. In essence, much like in nature, there are no boundaries in creativity. 

 

Often I feel like a scientist, all I have to do is keep experimenting and I will find my answers.
